Gender Equality Policy

The Australian and New Zealand Society for Mass Spectrometry (ANZSMS) strives to achieve equal access to resources and opportunity regardless of gender in all aspects of our society.

To achieve this goal, we will (i) work toward increasing gender representation on our Executive Committee by proactively encouraging females and other underrepresented groups to nominate for election, and (ii) ensure that we have gender representation on our biennial conference organizing committee and formal participation of female speakers and session chairs at our biennial conference, and at other society sponsored/supported events, that is at least commensurate with our current membership and recent past conference delegates. Our ultimate goal is to increase gender representation in our society to a level that reflects the broader natural and physical sciences community within the Australian and New Zealand populations (http://www.sciencegenderequity.org.au/gender-equity-in-stem/) according to the Athena SWAN Principles.

Requests for financial support from ANZSMS for state or local events will be assessed for compliance with this policy.
