ANZSMS16- Convenor's Report

12th June 1996


Below is a summary of conference status to date:

Plenary Speakers, (final list):

Prof John Bowie (Morrison Lecture) (negative ions)
Prof Jack Henion (drug metabolism)
Prof Don Hunt (peptides)
Prof Nico Nibbering (ion chemistry)
Dr Carol Robinson (proteins)

Invited Keynote Speakers:

Scott Tanner (Sciex) (ICPMS)

Micromass Ltd and Shimadzu/Kratos have also been invited to supply the names of proposed keynote speakers for consideration by the conference committee. (This was an attempt to balance the commercially linked speakers at previous conferences.) No replies to these invitations have yet been received.

Sponsorship/Trade Exhibits:

Comprehensive proposals were mailed to all MS companies regarding possible sponsorship of the conference and trade exhibitions. To date Varian have accepted the principal sponsor package, and HP have accepted a major sponsor package. No other replies have yet been received regarding sponsorship or trade exhibits. (Micromass have accepted a major sponsor package 1/7/96)

Advertising:

The conference is now posted on the Web with links from several other sites. Ads have been placed in most international MS journals and the Australian and NZ Chemical Institute journals. Advertisements from commercial company newsletters are being pursued. The first circular was mailed to the full ANZSMS mailing list.
