MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Held at University of New South Wales
Wednesday, 29th July, 1998, commencing at 5.30pm

1. Present

John MacLeod, Roger Summons, Margaret Sheil, Karina Watkins, Allan Duffield, Michael Guilhaus, Joe Brophy, Derek Nelson, Kevin Shaw, Peter Caha, Santiago Vazquez, Nirand Pongpun, Phillip Crisp, David Selby, Patricia Calderon, Nageeb Souson, Adriana Dinca, Rui Zhang, Victor Mlynsky, Daniel Jardine, Gary Willett


2. Apologies

3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting held at La Trobe University, Wednesday, 6th August, 1997 have been circulated. R. Summons/D.Nelson moved that the minutes be accepted as a true and correct record of the meeting.


4. Society Reports
1. President's Report
   
   The President's Report was tabled. J MacLeod/K.Shaw moved the report be accepted.
   
   M. Sheil moved a vote of thanks to John MacLeod for his outstanding and dedicated service to the Society, which was carried with acclamation.
   
   J. MacLeod moved a vote of thanks to Kevin Shaw for his services in establishing the Central Committee and as an effective member of the Committee since its inception, which was carried with acclamation.
   
   
2. Treasurer's Report
   
   K. Watkins presented the Treasurer's Report. R. Summons/P. Crisp moved the report be accepted.


5. Election of Central Committee

The following nominations were received by the Secretary prior to the meeting:
John Traeger for President
Margaret Sheil for Vice-President
Richard O'Hair for Secretary
Karina Watkins for Treasurer
Michael Guilhaus for Committee Member
Noel Davies Committee Member
Roger Summons Committee Member


There being no further nominations all of the above were elected unopposed.


6. General Business

M. Sheil presented a overview of ANZSMS-17 conference planning. All details available on the Web site at URL: http://www.uow.edu.au/science/anzsms17.


There being no other business the meeting closed at 6 pm.
